The transformation of a sentence means changing its form without altering its sense.
Changing an exclamatory sentence into an assertive sentence
What a wonderful opportunity! (Exclamatory)
It is a wonderful opportunity. (Assertive)
O that I were young again! (Exclamatory)
I wish I were young again. (Assertive)
How kind of you to help him like that! (Exclamatory)
It is very kind of you to help him like that. (Assertive)
How noble he is! (Exclamatory)
He is truly noble. (Assertive)
What a great pleasure it is! (Exclamatory)
This is indeed a great pleasure. (Assertive)
Changing an interrogative sentence into an assertive sentence
Is not wisdom better than riches? (Interrogative)
Wisdom is better than riches. (Assertive)
Why worry about what people say? (Interrogative)
It is foolish to worry about what people say. (Assertive)
Did I ever ask you to do it? (Interrogative)
I never asked you to do it. (Assertive)
Is there any sense in doing that? (Interrogative)
There is no sense in doing that. (Assertive)
What does it matter whether we win or lose? (Interrogative)
It matters little whether we win or lose. (Assertive)
Changing an imperative sentence into an interrogative sentence
Stop talking. (Imperative)
Will you stop talking? (Interrogative)
Shut the door. (Imperative)
Will you shut the door? (Interrogative)
Please, get me a glass of water. (Imperative)
Will you, please, get me a glass of water? (Interrogative)
Get out of here. (Imperative)
Will you get out of here or not? (Interrogative)
The interrogative is a milder or more polite form of the imperative. However, the addition of or not (see the last example) adds a touch of threat to the command.
Interchange of the degrees of comparison
Study the following examples.
No other man was as strong as Hercules. (Positive)
Hercules was stronger than any other man. (Comparative)
Hercules was the strongest of all men. (Superlative)
Mt Everest is higher than all other peaks. (Comparative)
No other peak in the world is as high as Mt Everest. (Positive)
Everest is the highest peak in the world. (Superlative)
Kashmir is the most beautiful place I have seen. (Superlative)
No other place I have seen is as beautiful as Kashmir. (Positive)
Kashmir is more beautiful than any other place I have seen. (Comparative)
Nothing else travels as fast as light. (Positive)
Light travels faster than anything else. (Comparative)
Of all things in the world light travels fastest. (Superlative)
Mumbai is one of the biggest cities in India. (Superlative)
Very few cities in India are bigger than Mumbai. (Comparative)
Most cities in India are not as big as Mumbai. (Positive)
Transforming sentences beginning no sooner
This can be done in two ways – using the expressions as soon as and scarcely (hardly) had … when …
No sooner had I reached the station than the train left.
As soon as I reached the station, the train left.
Scarcely (or hardly) had I reached the station when the train left.
No sooner had the thief run out of the jail than the guard fired at him.
As soon as the thief ran out of the jail, the guard fired at him.
Scarcely had the thief run out of the jail when the guard fired at him.
No sooner did I enter the room than the intruder ran away.
As soon as I entered the room, the intruder ran away.
Scarcely had I entered the room when the intruder ran away.
Transforming sentences containing too … to
This can be done by using so … that.
The boy was too clever to be taught.
The boy was so clever that he could not be taught.
John is too poor to continue his studies.
John is so poor that he cannot continue his studies.
We are too late to catch the train.
We are so late that we cannot catch the train.

When it comes to internet search engines the top two are without a doubt Google and Yahoo!.
Although the two a fierce competitors they share more common bonds then some people might realize. Both were created by students at Stanford University. Yahoo! was created in January of 1994 by two Stanford graduate students Jerry Yang and David Filo. The pair originally called Yahoo! Jerrys guide to the World Wide Web but later changed the name to Yahoo!, commemorating the word the Jonathan Swift defined in his classic novel Gullivers Travels. In the book Swift stated that the word was rude, unsophisticated, uncouth. Four years after Yang and Filo had created Yahoo! and introduced it to the world (at this time it was a internet mogul) two different Stanford University students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, created their own search engine, Google, as a research project, the date was September seventh 1998. Google started out as the search engine used on Stanford Universitys website before it went public on August 19, 2004. When 2006 ended Google was the leading internet search engine, it enjoyed over 50.8% of the market.
By the time it was a year old Yahoo! had had over a million hits, the sheer number of people who had found and were using Yahoo! prompted it creators to incorporated their creation in May of 1995. Yahoo! went public on April 12 1996 were it earned a total of 2.6 million dollars.
Googles progress was a little slower then Yahoo!s. Shortly after creating Google, Page and Brin registered it as the domain google.com on September 17, 1997 on Stanford Universitys website. Approximately one year after registering Google on Stanford Universitys website the pair decided to incorporate their research project. Finally, on August 19, 2004, Google had its very first public offering. Google is currently the favorite internet search engine.
After its meteoritic climb to glory Yahoo!s creators and shareholders were confident that they were holding onto a gold mine. They didnt predict the burst of the dot.com bubble in the early two thousands. Yahoo! survived the crisis but the value of Yahoo! stocks dropped to $8.11, an all time low.
Yahoo! uses a combination of web crawler compiled and indexed results to rank the websites and webpage are registered on their search engine. In addition to rankings compiled by the web crawler, webmasters can, for a fee, purchase a submission to Yahoo!s human compiled directory. The annual yearly fee is about three hundred dollars. The theory is that the listing humans provide will influence web crawlers into giving the website a higher ranking.
Google credits its success and popularity to the program it uses to search and rank webpages, a program it calls PageRank. Because Google is worried about webmasters using abusive techniques to garner higher rankings for their search engines Google carefully keeps the hows and whys of PageRank a closely guarded secret. Google does confess that PageRank runs on a link analysis algorithm. PageRank was different from all the rest of the search engine optimization techniques because it graded each page based on the number of and quality of the links that pointed to it.
Yahoo! quickly grew fond of offering the webmasters that subscribed to its search engine the opportunity to purchase something called paid inclusion. In exchange for a fee, Yahoo! guaranteed that the webpages would be ranked. What Yahoo! didnt guarantee was what type of ranking the webpages would receive; they refused to promise that the webpages would appear in the first two pages of a search.
Google uses a pay-per-click method to charge advertisers. Each time an advertisers link is clicked Google charges the account fifty cents./pbr

What are some of the ways that you can reduce your energy footprint as a budget traveler in Asia? Many of us when we go out on the road we try to the best of out ability to try to leave as small a foot print as possible. You can avoid some Asia flights and take either trains or buses, but for the most part some Asian air travel is unavoidable.
So the next biggest part of your energy footprint when you are traveling is your hotel room. Besides turning the air-con down or even off and using the fan, if the hotels provide one. Other things that you can do is if you have the air con on and the room is not well closed up, you can stick a towel on the floor in front of the door to prevent the cold air from getting out, this will allow the room to hold the cold air longer, and reduce the amount of energy that the room uses to stay cool. With some older hotel rooms the towel will make it so that it actually gets comfortable enough for you. I have seen some rooms that are so leaky and the air-con so old that it needs this just to cool the cheap hotel room down.
If you have a fan look at it does it have a lot of dust on the blades? If you can easily get the guard off, a two minute cleaning will give you a much more robust blow from the fan and the fan will use less energy. Some fans have where you can easily take the blade on and off, and take it in the shower and get it sparkly clean! The cool thing with this is the next guests in that room will benefit as well, and the fan will be saving energy long after you leave.
In Bali I like to stay in fan rooms only and one of the things that I do there is clean the window screens. You will be amazed at how much of a difference this will make to the comfort of some rooms. If you can easily get the screens off, again take them into the shower and wash them. If not take a dry cloth and rub it on both sides of the screen if you can. The cool thing with this is the next guests in that room will benefit as well, and the hotel, guesthouse, budget accommodation will save some on their energy usage.
Bottled water if I know that I am going to be staying in a budget accommodation for more than 3 days I will always go out and buy a 6 liter bottle of water and refill the small water bottles, this saves me money on the water and the big water bottles always are a better target for the recyclers.
In Asia, and most the world, instead of throwing aluminum can in the garbage bag place it next to the garbage, so that the recyclers can grab it easy.
Lets review
turn the air-con to a higher temperature or use a fan place a towel on the floor to decrease air loss under the door Clean the fan blades and guard Clean window screens Place aluminum and glass next to the garbage not in to help recycling Buy a large bottle of water and refill and reuse the little bottles
These measures alone are not going to turn global warming around but every little bit helps and the way you eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Have fun traveling!

Socializing your new puppy is one of the most important considerations for the new dog owner. Socialization lays the foundation for a happy and successful relationship with your pet, and is especially critical for the future protection dog. In this first part of a four part series, we will discuss some of the environmental situations your future guard dog or protection dog may encounter, and the ways to ensure that your dog is properly acclimated to them.
Countless studies have told us that the most important period for socialization begins at 8 weeks and continues to about 6 months. It is during this time period that the dogs experiences will most impact their future behavior. Proper socialization starts with people. Expose your dog to as many people as you can. Take your puppy with you to the park, to your friends and relatives, and anywhere else they will be allowed. You should also allow your dog to interact with groups of people, and to a limited extent other dogs and animals. Constant companionship with other animals can impede your dogs socialization to people.
Exposing your new dog to as many people and groups of people as you can is the best first step in proper socialization. But, by taking them to meet new people, you have also completed two other important steps. Firstly, exposing your dog to as many different environments as you can, and secondly acclimating your new dog to ride in a car. By placing your dog in new and unfamiliar surroundings, your dog learns to be accepting of new environmental conditions without fear or nervousness. Should your dog show any problems in acclimating to a new location, be patient and soothe your dog. Let the dog explore and let him or her learn on their own that there is nothing to be afraid of. By neglecting this aspect of socialization you open the door to future problems that affect your dogs working ability. Your dog may show nervousness or fear in unfamiliar environments and may not offer the protection that you need.
Exposing your new dog to riding in a car is also very important. Traveling with your dog can enrich family trips, as well as offer protection should the need arise. Certainly, you will be taking your new puppy to the vets office, but you definitely should not stop there. Your new dog should take a ride with you anytime it is possible. My experience has been that most dogs love to ride in a car, but sometimes it takes time for them to adjust. Be patient and calm with your dog. They will begin to lose any fear of the ride, unless of course you drive like my wife.br

The Yucatan Peninsula separates the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea and is composed of 3 Mexican states Yucatan, Campeche, and Quintana Roo. Its has been a tourist hot spot for the past thirty years with Cancun being one of the main attractions in the region.
Cancun is world focus for tourism and more people come to this region than the rest of Mexico put together. Cancun in factearns twenty-five per cent of Mexicos tourist revenue.
The only drawback of the region is that it stands right in the path of hurricanes that sweep in from the Caribbean. During the hurricane season June-October, tourism comes to a screeching halt until the storms pass; again the tourists returns in full force by the end of November.
This Yucatan Peninsula was once controlled and inhabited by the Mayans and during the later centuries of the pre-Colombian era, it was mostly controlled by the Maya civilization which extended south and west from the Yucatan, down to Guatemala and into Honduras.
There are many Maya archaeological sites throughout the peninsula; including some of the best preserved such as Chichen-Itza, Tikal, Tulum and Uxmal. They were invaded by the Spanish and this was to be an area that would be occupied until the early 1900s when it was finally incorporated into the Mexican government. It now makes up three of the thirty-one states that comprise Mexico as a country.
The Yucatan Peninsula is one of Mexicos biggest tourist attractions and the population explosion here is proof of appeal. Tourists are not limited to those of the United States and Canada alone, tourists from all over the world flock over here to drink in the Mexican culture and enjoy the beauty of the landscape. Cancun has earned an impressive reputation and is one of the most popular tourist destinations of the world.
The Yucatan Peninsula is now considered among the top tourist spots in the world and soaring numbers of tourists come to experience the incredible beaches of Mayan Riviera with its enticing Mayan ruins and the lush and warm tropical climate.
The beaches that are famous in the peninsula are Puerto Morelos, Playa car, Puerto Aventuras, Kantenah, Akumal, Tulum, Xcacel and Xpu-Ha. The cabins of the beaches of El Cuyo will give you a beautiful view of the nesting site of the pink flamingos. It is also one of the rare beaches where you can find the nesting of the hawksbill turtle. El Cuyo is not far from the city of Cancun.
Yucatan-Peninsula is considered to be one of the best archaeological zones of the ancient Meso-American world. Here you can find vestiges of Pre-historic culture. The more you explore this land, the more you will be enthralled by its greatness in cultural and science. The places that are famous for the ruins are Uxmal, Tul๚m, Chich้n-Itzแ Edznแ Chacmul, Cobแ, Palenke, Cumal-calco and Bonampak. You will enjoy the experience because its still guarded by the heavy forestry and rough terrain.
Sites that are being restored are Ek-Balam, Uxmal, Chichen-Itza and Oxkintoc and people who work there or travel there feel a kind of presence which they are unable to explain. It is a thing that can only be experienced and cannot be described.
The sand beaches of Cancun have a reputation of its own with an unbelievable clearness of the water with different tones of blue. The dolphins that are found in this region are friendly and play with the tourists in a fashion that they have known them for a long time. The entrances to the longest under ground rivers are also situated here. They are being explored now and present a mystique that one is not able to explain.
The sky is covered with a pink that is possible only with a flock of flamingoes, the likes of which can be witnessed at Yucatan.
Other places of interest include the Cenotes in Chichen Itz and Cenotes of Sotuta and Dzibilchaltun. One can also visit the many ramparts and the bulwarks that are built around the city. This was built with an aim to keep out the plunders in the 16th and 17th century./pbr

First, a disclaimer:
This article requires information about John the Baptist, whose life and works and words are holy, divinely inspired, to Christians. The sources Ive accessed are religious, historical, literary, exegetic, and anecdotal. In order to avoid disrespect for the sacredness of the words and concepts with which Christians hold The Gospels and with which Jews hold The Torah, Ive renamed both translated redactions. I also use the euphemism, monotheistic god, to avoid any disrespect to any deity and religion. This is an essay designed to entertain and inform you, Dear Reader, not to cause any religious discussion or foment.
Second, a thank you:
To friend Pam and friend Vanessa, both of whom got my research juices going on Salome, whom, I believed, was trivial, too trivial even for our newsletter. It boiled down to Who did she do the belly dance for? I hadnt a clue, because I didnt think she was real. They both assured me she was a real person. I checked it out. Yup, she was real and…
she may have danced or may not have danced. But, if she did dance, it wasnt a belly dance that she did, nor was it a tap, the tango, or the quick step. The belly dance aspect was imagined in the late 19th century by some artistic guy, and well get there, later, when its timely. She did perform, that much is true, and she performed for the host, her stepfather, at the instigation of the hostess, her mother, and their banquet guests.
It was an entertainment interlude, and it occurred about the 1st century AD in a castle located in area called The Galilee. She may have performed in a play about some Greek mythological character or she may have been the one non-Bedouin ( a guest) in a troop of Bedouin entertainers who did folk dances that non-Bedouins enjoyed seeing. If it was the former, the structure of the play was rigid: it was a pantomime, with stringed instrumentals to keep the story line going, mime actors of both genders, all adults, and young children acrobatics of both genders. Everyone was masked. This was a troop of professional entertainers on the payroll of biggies, not a traveling group (a type not yet invented). They were probably on the payroll of her stepfather and she had time to practice with them before the banquet.
If it was the latter, it was a dance, one with a lot of whirling and head tossing, by females in heavy blue robes with cowls, and there was a flute accompaniment. The company did not live in The Galilee, but were nomads from the desert between The Galilee and Arabia, who had come by request of the biggie. It is unlikely that Bedouin dancers were involved in this banquet, for they had to walk a fine line in their desert migrations, land that abutted both The Galilee and Arabia. at that time There was bad blood between Aretas IV King of Arabia and Antipas, stepfather of Salome, Tetrarch of The Galilee, the place where the banquet and the entertainment took place and the place where Salome lived. And, Salome would not have had time to practice the whirling and head tossing before the banquet.
So, it was a Roman style play about Greek mythology that was probably performed as the intermediate event between courses or the closing event of a posh banquet. The host, her stepfather, was a Herod well call Antipas, (not as high as a King) and the hostess, her mother, was named Herodias (a former Queen, divorced from her 1st husband, Phillip, a King, and now married to a mere Tetrarch, making her a Tetrarchess, I guess). The guest list contained: nobles visiting from Rome, Roman nobles stationed in The Galilee by Rome, aristocrats from The Galilee and maybe Judea, and Antipas Steward, Chuza. Some sources say the banquet was thrown by Herodias because it was Antipas birthday, an unnecessary embellishment, to my way of thinking. Most sources are silent about the reason for the banquet, so I tend to go with most when its a fact such as this kind. Any banquet takes preparation, whether youre a Queen, a Tetrarchess, or merely the wife of a mope. So, along with the food and seating plan, Herodias prepared for the entertainment and decided that Salomes participation in the entertainment would be the thing to do before the banquet took place. Herodias is described as a savvy kind of gal by the benign tellers of the tale (shes vilified by most) and Salome was her only child (by Phillip), so she probably made time to watch Salome rehearse. A lot was riding on Salome being real real good. Nothing anywhere says whether Salome wanted to be a part of the entertainment or was unwilling to be a part of the entertainment.
Herodias planned a staid, Roman affair. It could not have been a bacchanal type banquet (similar to the present Wild Ons on E!), as some sources suggest. There were stringent Roman rules about highborn women and what they can attend and do in while in attendance. Herodias was high born and from Judea. (Antipas, her second husband, was not as high born, coming from an Idumean father and possibly a Samarian mother.)
Salome was just a kid at the time of the banquet. Some sources say she was a teenager, but they have to in order for other parts of the legend to fit. (Well get to the other parts later.) I doubt if she was a nubile teenager. She was royalty, a Princess, in fact, with very good blood on her mothers side, Maccabean blood, which was respected even by Rome, who, by the way, had conquered Judea (and The Galilee) long before this time and made this area a part of their Empire. Modesty and chastity were required for this type female from a Roman standpoint and a Maccabean standpoint (her bloodline was matriarchal). She had to be dutiful, respectful, and learn at her mothers knee, an important custom amongst the Maccabean women. She was a good kid. So, she couldnt have been a teenager and allowed to perform. It would diminish her future value in the marriage market, Roman or otherwise, and it would have been a sin. I would opine she had to be less than Nadia Comanecis age when she blew away the Olympic judges in 1976, but she was probably just as agile.
Its probable that Herodias recognized her daughters agility long before the banquet, for kids have a tendency to display what theyre good at long before theres a use for the tendency. It could have been a genetic throwback to the time before the Maccabees were promoted to highborn, the time when the men were just about the best guerilla fighters in Judea and found the mountainous regions around Judea excellent terrain to entice their foes into combat. She was probably proud of this tendency and savvy enough to see a utilization for her own good. This also pre-supposes that Herodias might have had more contact in Salomes upbringing than Roman highborn mothers or that there was a lot of contact between highborn mothers and their daughters at that time. In either case, Herodias planned the banquet and the entertainment and included her agile daughter in the entertainment, making sure Salome rehearsed and would do a good job in the acrobatic kid part of the troop
a multi-tasking woman for sure.
Protocol at posh and formal banquets where Roman mucky mucks were invited was stringent. This would have been very important to Antipas, also. He had been raised in Rome (maybe even a hostage child) and the land he administered at the time of the banquet had been bequeathed to him by Rome. Augustus (of the Cleopatra story) had handled the apportioning of Antipas fathers enormous estate when he, known as Herod The Great, died. Antipas was not happy with the way Poppas estate was apportioned, felt he had gotten the short stick amongst his four brothers. (He had.) He would have been very, very Roman at this Roman banquet in order to make nice and have this get back to Rome.
The men would have reclined on the equivalent of 1st century Barco-Loungers and ate lovely things and drank lovely wine moderately, while trading amusing stories and quips and bantering amongst each other. Im not sure just what bantering is, but I am sure they bantered. They would have been arranged in a horseshoe pattern. The women guests and their hostess would have sat on chairs and I couldnt figure out where the chairs were placed, within the horseshoe in a line or outside the horseshoe in a line. But in any case, they would have sat on fancy, but hard backed, chairs in a line and would not have eaten, drunk wine, but I suggest they may have bantered. Their job was to just sit, all gussied up and smellin good. (They would eat and drink, later, when they got home or when the guests left, depending on your perspective.)
Salome could not have been invited. If she had been invited, she would have left her fancy, hard-backed chair vacant in order to get into costume and perform. Antipas would have noticed the empty chair and have asked someone, Where did the kid go? And, someone would have said, Shes going to perform. That would have taken the drama out of this next part of the story. Lets agree; she was not invited to the banquet.
At the proper time, the play was performed, and the audience clapped after it was over. Antipas complimented the performers, then singled one out. Because it was Salome that was singled out, I believe she was one of the masked acrobats. It only makes sense. Antipas apparently didnt recognize the stepdaughter he had raised since infancy as the excellent acrobat in the play. Rather, he thought her one of the professionals, for if he had recognized her, he wouldnt have offered the giftreward. He just would have said, Good job, sweetie. Go get washed. Youll catch cold. Therefore, because he didnt recognize her, he made a magnanimous gesture (Its not unlikely that he was showing off for the guests, for Antipas was a doodle-head, didnt think things through. Well get to that, later.), and he offered the acrobat-Salome anything she desired as a gift from him for her fine performance. This is exactly what Herodias had planned to happen. She knew her guy pretty well and she knew her little girl real well. The benign tellers were right: she was a savvy gal.
Since all sources attribute what comes next as engendered by Herodias, the acrobat-Salome had to have asked him to wait a minute and had to have gone to the chair line, where her mother and the other women were sitting, otherwise Herodias would not have been associated with what comes next. (It would have been only Salome who would have been associated with what comes next.). So, the mother and daughter had to have conferred quietly, while Antipas (and the guests) watched. Perhaps, Salome said, Euwww, as kids do when they hear something revolting; or perhaps, not. She was a 1st century kid and they may have been different from 21st century kids. I think not. Kids are kids. She said Euwww. Dutifully, she listened closely to what her mother told her and she probably repeated it back to Herodias, so that she got it right and straight. Then, she, the acrobat-Salome, came back to Antipas with the gift idea: the head of the long time prisoner John (who later became John the Baptist, but who was merely the prisoner John at this time) on a platter (which was probably not a platter, but a charger).
Its possible that he recognized Salome at this point. It doesnt really matter. I do know he knew he had been set up by his wife, Herodias, via this acrobat-Salome, when he heard the performance reward. And he was startled and embarrassed and in a public quandary. Its possible he questioned the acrobat-Salome with an are you kidding? kind of question, while looking in Herodias direction, who either shrugged her shoulders or nodded yes. From a legal standpoint, he did not have to honor this acrobat-Salomes request, for it wasnt hers. It was Herodias. But thats not how it went down.
Everyone at the banquet knew there had been a big mad between Herodias and Antipas regarding John for a long, long time. She had wanted him killed outright for talking often and badly about her and her marriage to Antipas to everyone and anyone who would listen to him. John had labeled it incestuous and it was, kind of, but by only a technicality, like the small print in a big long contract. Herodias first husband, the Herod were calling Phillip, was Antipas half brother. They shared the same father, Herod The Great, but had different mothers. Phillip was still living in Judea where he was King (Rome gave him a large portion of his fathers estate, larger than Antipas..) and as long as Phillip lived, Herodias and Antipas had an incestuous marriage. As soon as he died, it would be an okay marriage. But, he hadnt died, yet.
Although it was the gossip that bothered Herodias (A good spin doctor would have helped, but they were 2000 years down the road in development.), it was the religious twist John put on the technical incest that bothered Antipas. John attributed all the stuff that had gone wrong in The Galilee since they married (and stuff had gone wrong, for Antipas was a doodle-head) to the marriage. And, John said that the monotheistic god was angry with her, more than Antipas, because of her good Maccabean blood (a mix of Idumean and Samarian blood results in a person that the monotheistic god doesnt expect much from), and would stay angry with her and get more so, so the anger would spill over to the whole of The Galilee, until she and Antipas split (or, I guess, until Phillip died, a factor that was out of her hands).
People listened to that kind of stuff at that time and in that place and they got real scared. A monotheistic gods anger was a terrible thing. Famine, drought, disease, pestilence, flood, invasion, even eclipse – anything could happen when a monotheistic god was angry. While there hadnt been famine, drought, disease, pestilence, flood, invasion, or even an eclipse in The Galilee, Antipas had lost a war, his first, with Nabatea, their neighbor in Arabia.
Herodias could have been a vulnerable position should important people have listened to Johns predictions. Luckily for her, the important people had other things on their mind. Antipas said no to killing John and yes to imprisoning him, believing that would shut John up. Some sources said Antipas had a feeling that Johns predictions were true; others said he had a feel for the monotheistic deity. Still others say he was merely acting like a political animal, notably, a fox. At any rate, John was not killed, but imprisoned, and he had been languishing in the prison for many years at the time of the banquet.
Now, killing a local prisoner was no big deal anywhere in the 1st century world of the Roman Empire and having a prisoner killed to reward an agile acrobat was stretching the reward idea, but… it could work. The thing is that the head on a plattercharger was the note that made it a bigger deal. This touch was a gruesome, certainly barbaric, dramatic thing and would cause a scandal and gossip all over Judea and in Rome, what Antipas did not need if he were to ever get any more land from his dead fathers estate from Rome. (And it did, for Flavius Josephus in his book, Antiquities, writing to and for Rome about 100 years after the event ,included the event for it was still so juicy. This, by the way, is how we know about some parts of it.) (An important question occurs to me and that is this: How and where did Herodias get this notion? The very best I can come up with is the Greek myth of Perseus and Medusa and their fight to death. Perseus won. He decapitated Medusa and waved her head around and took it a bunch of places as a talisman. It must have been awful after a time. Maybe thats where she got it, for she was well educated. Perhaps, she then pragmatically adapted it to the opportune situation at hand. Beheading was a popular type of death and an honorable type of execution for criminals and warriors amongst the Romans and the Maccabees and the Arabians. This, I discovered, from plunking around on the Internet to some very weird websites. I dont recommend you check this out for yourself. Truthfully, I cannot imagine where she got this embellishment. One of these weird websites calls her talented.)
The doodle-head complied.
A messenger was sent to the fortress named Macharerus (now called Mukawir) in an area called The Perea (now part of Amman, Jordan) where John was imprisoned. A nameless guard cut off his head, and got a messenger to convey it to the castle somewhere in The Galilee, where the banquet guests were waiting, the males still bantering with one another, I guess, to pass the time; the females still sitting quietly on their hard chairs, smellin good. The acrobat-Salome probably went off somewhere to bathe and change clothes, then returned to the banquet room to stand next to her (talented) Momma or stand with the performers. The guards put the headless body somewhere, waited for further orders.
I couldnt find out how far away the area The Parea was from The Galilee, for I couldnt pin down exactly what city the castle was located in the area known as The Galilee, then, the area where the banquet occurred. Lets believe it wasnt terribly far, so the messenger conveying the head could get from there to there quick. He arrived and a kitchen servant brought a plattercharger (No one knows if it was a platter made out of silver, gold, porcelain, or stoneware. In fact, no one cared. Furthermore, it may not have been a platter, but a charger, which is larger than a plate and smaller than a platter and rested under a plate at a table service and was often of precious metal. Since its a Roman banquet, people took morsels of this and that from servant-held chargers, didnt have a table service at all. They were reclining.) where the head was placed. Another servant, a serving type, brought the head to the banquet hall and stood in front of Antipas. Its possible he directed the servant to acrobat-Salome, who took the plattercharger and gave it to her Mother. One redactor source makes Herodias even more gruesome stating: she got a sword and stabbed the tongue. This is an embellishment that even Flavius Josephus didnt believe, so he doesnt mention it. What she really did with it, I dont know. (People who thought John had a direct line to the monotheistic god requested his body and his head from Antipas, who released both parts to them. They took it to an area called Samaria, which was close to The Perea, and buried it.)
What happened after this part of the banquet took place, I dont know. I imagine some guy yawned and said, Its been quite an evening. I think its time to get going. And the guests all went to their lodgings. Its probable that Antipas and Herodias had a long conversation, after the guests left. When they were alone in their private rooms, he probably opened the conversation with: We never talk anymore, Herodias. Tell me whats going on with you. Salome, who had been up long past her normal bedtime, was probably overtired and went to sleep or was put to sleep immediately.
And there you have it. Salome didnt dance, didnt wear veils, and had a strong bond with her Mother.

San Francisco, CA September 15, 2004 — Devoted entirely to the Cultural Creatives, www.EcoSeeker.com is a new Internet search engine positioning itself the catch the green wave. A large new subculture of people has morphed out of the Traditional Heartlanders and the Modernists. They are the Transmodern Cultural Creatives. And what is a Cultural Creative? According to Paul H. Ray and Sherry Ruth Anderson, authors of The Cultural Creatives, โ(They) are 50 million Americans who care deeply about ecology and saving the planet, about relationships, peace, social justice, and about authenticity, self actualization, spirituality and self-expression. Theyre activists, volunteers and contributors to good causes more than other Americans.โ Most Cultural Creatives do not realize that they number as many as 1 in 4 in N. America and the European union.
Susan Landes, founder and CEO of www.EcoSeeker.com, reports that she was elated when she first heard the term Cultural Creative. โPeople had tried to categorize me as New Age, but Im not. It was very satisfying and affirming to have a name that truly fits my values, and to know that there are more of us than I knew.โ
According to Rays research, Cultural Creatives value:
ยท Ecological sustainability, beyond environmentalism: If you can name an aspect of ecology and sustainability, they are emphatically for it, and are leading the way. Cultural Creatives demonstrate awareness of a large range of issues, including wanting to rebuild neighborhoods and communities, ecological sustainability and limits to growth, seeing nature as sacred, wanting to stop corporate polluters, being anti-big-business, wanting voluntary simplicity, being willing to pay to clean up the environment and to stop global warming.
ยท Globalism: Two of the top values for Cultural Creatives are xenophilism (love of travel to foreign places, of foreigners and the exotic) and ecological sustainability, which strongly includes concern for the planetary ecology and stewardship, and population problems.
ยท Feminism, womens issues, relationships, family: The fact that Cultural Creatives are 60 percent women is a major key to understanding this subculture. Much of the focus on womens issues in politics comes from them–including concerns about violence and abuse of women and children, desire to rebuild neighborhoods and community, desire to improve caring relationships, and concerns about family (though they are no more family-oriented than most North Americans, it is near the top in their list of values).
ยท Altruism, self-actualization, alternative health care, spirituality and spiritual psychology: This is a complex of highly interrelated beliefs and values centered on the inner life. In reality, this is a new sense of the sacred that incorporates personal growth psychology and the spiritual and service to others as all one orientation. It also includes a stronger trend toward holistic health and alternative health care as part of this complex.
ยท Well-developed social conscience and social optimism: Contrary to some social critics, an emphasis on the personal does not exclude the political or social conscience, though individuals may focus on them in sequence. Cultural Creatives are engaged in the world just as much as in personal and spiritual issues. Rebuilding and healing society is related to healing ourselves, physically and spiritually. With that goes a guarded social optimism.
โThis group is innovative, constantly combining the values of Traditionals and Moderns and transforming them into entirely new civic associations like political parties, unions, civic clubs, think tanks, institutes, foundations, charities, clinics, and churches. This is really about a new kind of holism. Take a yoga center for example: is it a business, a spiritual place, an education center, a health and exercise place, or a way of life? The answer is Yes to all the above. Were crossing categories all the time.โ
According to www.CulturalCreatives.org, โA new industry is appearing: Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability, and it was $230 Billion in the U.S. in 2000, and $540 Billion worldwide. And the Cultural Creatives are their entire market. They are the drivers of the demand that we go beyond environmental regulation to real ecological sustainability, to change our entire way of life accordingly. They demand authenticity — at home, in the stores, at work, and in politics. They support womens issues in many areas of life. They insist on seeing the big picture in news stories and ads. This is already influencing the marketplace and public life.โ
โIf people dont know about the Cultural Creatives they may be left behind, wondering where all the changes are coming from. After all, any time one in four Americans are changing their minds in fundamental ways, its worth paying attention to, because its going to change your life too.โ

High Speed boat-car, Hydrofoil. Hey slow down so we can wash that? Car? Boat? Hydrofoil? Sports Car? Strike Vehicle? Whatever it is or all of the above. We were doing some boat washing industry research out there on the Internet and found this site:
http://www.dobbertinhydrocar.com/
Then we remember a research company in CA doing a private industry project with a water skimmer speed boat.
http://www.americanhydrofoil.com/
There are many such projects, which we do not know about as well as some pretty bizarre conspiracy theorists misinformation type information out there.
http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/1028393/posts
The actual unit being built is much faster than the specified speed. And it is a lot more capable than ever thought. And they are in use now. But the smaller assault style hydrofoil skimmer vehicles are the future like the strike vehicles used now in Baghdad only on the water actually traveling above it. These type of water vehicles have all kinds of uses from transporting seal teams, delivering weapons to enemy ports for blockage or Unmanned Above Water patrols for coastlines or to swim circles around the whole fleet at 50 miles out for additional buffer zone to give information to the Net Centric system guarding those assets in the fleets. Six or seven of these going around in circles and you have a complete out ring safety net, including taking weather, surf, temperature readings.
Now then, what if you used the some of this technology and this prototype and set up skimmer skis, which come out as the boat/car reaches speed. If this worked with some armor light-weight armor plating. You build a car-boat on a chassis of a vehicle like a SmartTruck or Presidential Limo. You could have a amphibious, strike vehicle once you got to the shore. A car, a high speed boat and if you got into serious problems head for the water. From the water to the land You could literally hit the beach at 30kts. On the water at 100+ Knots and then slow down to 50 knots on the water as this boat can do that already. Slow down to 30 knots and drive out of the water and accelerate to 100 knots again.
