A 1990s Western comedy featuring Mel Gibson, Maverick was a breath of fresh air when it first appeared in theaters. Unlike most films with a Western setting, this one doesnt take itself too seriously. The product of famed director Richard Donner, whose career spans such diverse and notable creations as Gilligans Island, The Goonies, and Lethal Weapon, Maverick is a uniquely clever and entertaining adventure comedy based on the 1950s television series of the same name. Back then, as in this one, James Garner is the true star…
Set in the 19th Century as America expands westward, Maverick follows the life of Bret Maverick (Mel Gibson), an enterprising poker player navigating the dangerous backrooms of Western taverns and saloons. In need of $25,000 to enter a winner-take-all poker tournament, he travels from town to town along the way in the hopes of winning his entry fee. But he immediately encounters Angel (Alfred Molina), a roughneck poker player who tries to kill him…
Also along the way, Maverick encounters Ms. Annabelle Bransford (Jodie Foster), a slick and conniving poker player who picks Mavericks pocket following a brief romantic interlude. Both Bret and Annabelle are bound for the same tournament, and theyre soon joined by Marshal Zane Cooper (James Garner), a retired sheriff famous throughout the West for his moral clarity.
As the three travel cross country, they face a series of pitfalls that include a dead coach driver, a showdown with hundreds of Indians, and Mavericks unorthodox financial dealings with an Archduke from Russia. Eventually separated, the three meet once again on the Riverboat Lauren Belle, home of the championship poker game hosted by the Commodore Duvall. Bret and Annabelle both intend to win the tournament showdown, while Marshal Cooper is tasked with guarding the $500,000 in entry fees. With Angel part of the tournament field, Maverick must face down the man who tried to murder him. But its the unexpected actions of a tournament official that really throw things off for our heroes, and when things go awry, Maverick and Marshal Cooper are left to pursue the slickest culprit of all…
Long before The Passion Of The Christ, Mel Gibson helped make this gem of a movie. Great entertainment in every sense of the word, Maverick is an unforgettable comedy marked by the standout performances of Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, and James Garner. Each of the main characters creates a likeable persona. And what makes this movie an absolute must-see (because the plot leaves much to be desired) is the ability of the onscreen characters to develop a personal connection with the audience. Several scenes from the film are ridiculously hilarious, such as those featuring Mavericks Indian friend Joseph (Graham Greene). Nevertheless, Maverick isnt the type of movie that will win Academy Awards or leave one pondering the fundamental principles of the universe. That said, Maverick does serve the ultimate purpose of the big screen by transporting its audience away from the mundane and recharging the soul with laughter and suspense, and thats what good movies are supposed to be all about…br

10 Ways To Supercharge Your Goals

Author: Susan K. Minarikbr

br
Do you want to create commanding goals with the power to propel you past every obstacle? Bolster them with these potent tips and youll be unstoppable.

1. Know Your Purpose– Above all, for a goal to have motivating power, it must be meaningful to you. Write out a Purpose Statement for your goal. Know whats in it for you. What will it contribute to your life? In addition to what you expect to gain from the outcome, think about how the pursuit itself will benefit you. What skills will your goal call on you to stretch or acquire?

2. Map Your Route– Its become a clich้ because its true: Failing to plan is planning to fail. Know the mileposts between you and your goal and have a detailed plan for reaching the first one. As you near the first milepost, begin to develop details of your plan for reaching the next one. The lure of the next milepost will whet your eagerness to keep going and fire your enthusiasm for wrapping up the current one.

3. Keep Your Focus– Be one-pointed in pursuing each step of your goal. Energy flowing in a focused channel can create a Grand Canyon. Without focus, it creates a swamp. Mentally review tomorrows steps before you fall asleep at night; repeat them as you start each day.

4. Create Momentum- Utilize Newtons First Law: A body in motion tends to stay in motion. Get moving on your goal as soon and as often as you possibly can. Dont wait until you think you have enough information or time. Begin where you are, with what you have and what you know. The road will open to you as you go.

5. Ask Questions– Ask yourself questions about your goal constantly. Ask if theres a straighter path. Ask how else you can look at it or what else you need to do or know. Your mind will automatically produce or lead you to answers. Ask kids how they would approach the step youre focused on, or people wholly outside your field. Explaining your question to them will help you understand better what youre seeking, and their answers may trigger new ways to look at your situation.

6. Read Goal-Related Material Daily– Capitalize on the fact that you life in the information age. Every day find at least one more nugget of data about your goal. Seek out the top-notch experts in your field, study what they say and do, and apply what you learn.

7. Have an Idea Catcher Handy — Good ideas pop up suddenly and evaporate as quickly as they come. Be prepared to catch them. Record enough details to let youself recapture the idea later. A single word or two that seems significant at the moment may look nonsensical later. Set aside time every day to transfer all the ideas you have collected into one central file. Not only will that keep good ideas from getting lost, but it will program your mind to continue producing and elaborating on them.

8. Talk It Up — Ruthlessly guard your self-talk. Delete every doubt instantly. Choose to believe you can achieve your aim whether the way is apparent or not. Learn to craft affirmations and use them continuously. Mastering your mindset is the one essential to achieving your goal.

9. Ramp It Up– Use the Power of Two to invigorate yourself. Stay at a task for 2 minutes longer. Add 2 more ideas to your file. Make 2 more contacts. Ask 2 more questions. Increase the quality of your focus by 2%. Do routine tasks 2% faster. Every day find something you can improve by a factor of 2. Its just enough of a challenge to give you the winning edge.

10. Empower Your Goal with Gratitude- To keep your enthusiasm high, consciously practice gratitude for your goal, for the fact that you have it, for all it is doing to give purpose to your life, for the ways it is nourishing your personal growth, for all it is teaching you and allowing you to explore.
Gratitude empowers your vision and provides you with the humility you need to stay open. It adds passion to your will to achieve, keeps you operating from your heart and gives meaning to the smallest task. By all means, give thanks, and travel in its joy./pbr

Help! Theres an Intruder in my Computer

Do you have passwords, love letters, naughty pictures or sensitive business information stored on your computers hard drive? If you have a continuous Internet connection such as cable, xDSL, ISDN or other, you should know that its almost embarrassingly easy for a hacker to break into a networked computer.

Once in, they can use your private information any way they see fit. As well as getting your personal documents, the hacker can damage your system files or install software on your disk that allows your computer to be used in Denial of Service attacks and other destructive activities.

Similarly, the hacker can activate your interior microphone or interior video recorder without your knowledge. This lets them record and distribute sound and video files of the conversations and activities taking place in your work area.

How Hackers Do It

Every Internet-connected computer has a unique set of identifying numbers called an IP address. Using special software applications, hackers send out probes over the Internet looking for live IP addresses. If they locate your computer, they look for holes or vulnerabilities that leave your system insecure.

For example, a computer is likely to have multiple applications (email, web browser, etc.) running on the same IP address. Each application is assigned a number called a port that uniquely identifies that service on a computer. Ports that allow an application to send or receive information from the Net must be open. In some unprotected systems, even ports that are not in use have been left open — practically inviting attack! When hackers discover an unprotected, open port, they can use that opening to gain access to your system.

An unprotected broadband connection is easiest to hack because both the connection and the IP address remain constant. If a hacker or a script kiddie finds your computer once, they can readily find it again. (Script kiddie is a derogatory name used by professional hackers to describe simple scripts used by young and inexperienced hackers).

The threat is less severe for persons connecting to the Internet via dial-up modems. Dial-ups usually connect with a different IP address each log-on. Therefore, if hackers have found a system once, the changing IP address will make it difficult (not impossible) to find it again.

However, if a trojan horse or back door program has been installed on a system, the trojan horse could phone home with the IP address each time an Internet connection is made.

Back door programs allow remote users to control a system without the owners knowledge. They are installed on computers by hackers, or sometimes come secretly bundled with software applications that the user installs. Well-known back door programs for Windows computers include BackOriface, NetBus and SubSeven.

Firewalls: Your First Level of Security

Firewalls are software applications or hardware devises that you install on your system. They are designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network that is connected to the Internet. When a firewall is installed, all incoming or outgoing messages pass through the firewall. Those that do not meet the specified security criteria are blocked.

Most home firewalls are software applications.

How Firewalls Work

There are various types of firewalls, and they work through different processes. However, the following is true for most of the home or personal firewall software that is used today.

Information over the Internet is sent in packets of data. These packets travel from a source machine to a destination machine — which could be two feet away or two continents away. Each packet of data contains the IP address and port number of the originating machine.

The firewall software inspects every packet of data that arrives at the computer — BEFORE that data is allowed entry into the system and before it connects with an open port. The beauty of a firewall lies in its ability to be selective about what it accepts and what it blocks.

The firewall has the ability to refuse any suspect data. If the incoming data is ignored and not allowed in, that port will effectively disappear on the Internet and hackers cannot find it or connect through it. In other words, instead of receiving a signal that a port is open, the hackers receive nothing back and have no way of connecting.

Several firewall applications are available to the small business operator or the home computer user. Before changing firewalls or installing one for the first time, its wise to check out the comparative testing that has been done on these applications.

Persons already running a firewall could test its effectiveness by trying the Shields and Ports test available at Gibsons Research Corporation (GRC) web site, or by downloading and running the LeakTest software available on site at http://www.grc.com.

GRCs Steve Gibson has some surprising test results posted in conjunction with LeakTests personal firewall scoreboard at

http://grc.com/lt/scoreboard.htm.

The best-rated one is free. Not only did Zone Labs Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com) score best in Gibsons testing, but the firewall has been recognized for excellence by CNET, PC World, PC Magazine and Home Office Computing.

Other well-known firewalls include McAfee firewall at www.mcafee.com, Sygate Personal FW at www.sygate.com, Symantec/Norton at www.symantec.com and Tiny Personal FW at www.tinysoftware.com

Now, the bad news.

A firewall protects you from open ports, but it does not protect you from data coming and going through ports that you allow. Malicious code can invade your system from email attachments or by visiting a hostile web site. And remember — even well trusted web sites can suddenly be hostile if hackers have added malicious code without the site administrators knowledge.

Test your security against malicious code at Finjan Softwares web site. Many of you will be dismayed to find that your supposedly secure system is vulnerable.

http://www.finjan.com

Malicious code blocking software such as Finjans Surf n Guard analyzes incoming data and decides whether the code could be harmful. ZDNet recommends that code-blocking software be used in addition to firewall and your antivirus software.

Too Late?

Home Security on a Tight Budget

Nov 29, 2009 Author

Author: David Hobbsbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
Mark Twain is famously quoted as having said, Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it. Much the same can be said about home security. We think about it, we talk about it but we often do little about it. The most common reason seems to be cost. Thats an unfortunate obstacle to implementing home security measures on your property because, frankly, the effort doesnt need to cost you a great deal.

With just a few changes to your habits, your landscape and your home, you and your family can be much safer than you are today. I hope youll find this article a helpful guide to getting started on the road to better home security without breaking the bank.

Before going into details, remember that your real objective here isnt to turn your property into a fortress. After all, a completely secure home would be little more than a prison to its occupants. What you do want to accomplish is deterrence. Basically, you want a criminal to take a gander at your property and decide there are easier pickings a few houses over. To do that, you simply need to cost a crook time, deny him tools and leave him exposed. Lets talk about time.

A criminal wants to spend no more than 10-15 minutes getting into your home, gathering as many valuables as he can and getting out the door. Thats a beginning to end process. Your goal is to slow him down. If the obstacles you put in his way make the length of time required to get in your home too risky relative to the reward, hell skip your home. So what are some inexpensive obstacles?

Use your deadbolts and security locks. The knob lock on your door is so easy to bypass, it might as well not be there. I can get into my own home in under 15 seconds using a credit card. Imagine how little trouble a professional criminal would have getting into yours. A key lock deadbolt, however, cant be jimmied with a credit card. That means a crook has to invest extra time to actually pick your lock (time consuming), smash in your door (great way to call attention to yourself), find an alternate way in or move on. Get in the habit of always locking your deadbolt at night and when you leave your home. A few extra seconds of your time is hardly as inconvenient as coming home to find your belongings missing and your house ransacked.

Install security locks for your windows. Much like the tab-lock on my door, I can slip open the crescent latches on my windows with a credit card in under 15 seconds. That is, I could do it. I cant anymore because Ive replaced them all with security locks. Do this for all ground floor or patio/deck accessible windows. Your criminal may smash in a window pane and simply reach in to flip the lock so window locks requiring keys are the most secure. Providing, of course, you dont get lazy and just leave the key in the lock.

So now weve cost a would-be criminal time. Stage one of our anti-theft triangle is pretty solid. Lets move onto our next deterrent which involves denying him the tools he might use.

Dont give criminals a hand. Youd be surprised how often criminals find themselves daunted by a homes security only to find the perfect tool they need in the owners own back yard. Dont leave ladders out for your criminals to use. Dont leave tools that can be used as pry-bars on your doors and windows. If you dont have a secure place to store a ladder, at least use a cable lock and lock it to something solid.

Another tool (one for you rather than for the criminals) is a security system. Now, this obviously isnt an inexpensive home security method (the whole point of this article) so lets refine that to – the illusion of a security system. See if you can purchase yard signs and window stickers from a reputable security company. Many will agree to sell you signs without requiring a contract simply because the sign is free advertising for them. You can also purchase a fake security camera on the internet. In conjunction with your yard signs, both of these tools can deter a criminal from even bothering with your property if there are easier pickings available a few houses down.

Many of us have learned a hard lesson after locking ourselves out and have decided to solve the problem by leaving an emergency key hidden outside. Criminals know this. The first places theyll look are any hiding places by the front door. That includes above the door, under a welcome mat and flower pots. If you must leave a hidden key outside, leave it as far away from the door as you can and hide it in the most inconspicuous place you can find.

Your neighbors represent another criminal tool; unwittingly, of course. Its common practice for burglars to prep a site by posing as repairmen, salesmen, potential home buyers, anything that might get a neighbor to let his or her guard down. Once suspicion has been allayed, the criminal will milk your neighbor for all kinds of information in an effort to learn about your work schedule, sleep schedule, travel habits and anything else that will give them insight into when youre home and when youre gone. The only real way to protect yourself here is to ensure you and your neighbors are educated. Work together, get to know each other and make a point to protect each other.

The point is to take the time to talk to them and let them know what they need to know such as the fact that, should you ever hire a house sitter, youll let your neighbors know who to look out for. Likewise should a relative come to visit for an extended period. You want your neighbors to be suspicious should they see somebody wandering around your property without you having advised them in advance they will be there.

This is actually a good chance to move on to exposure and start with a neighborhood watch. As youre already chatting up your neighbors, why not see if theres interest in forming a neighborhood watch? Your local police very likely have a neighborhood watch program and will be happy to educate you on how to get one going. Every time you or your neighbors do your rounds represents a risk of exposure criminals dont want. Just remember that your job is to observe and report. NEVER put yourself in danger by confronting a suspicious person directly.

Another element of exposure is simply lighting. Whether you go with motion activated security lights or just keep up a good habit of having your front, side and back doors well illuminated at night, youll make your property far less appealing than somebody who likes to keep their property dark. If youre trying to go green and save energy, use an energy efficient bulb. I want to save the environment too, but not at the risk of my familys safety.

Also keep your hedges short and neatly trimmed. Having tall bushes near ground-level windows gives your criminals the perfect hiding place while they work. A cop or pedestrian could walk right by and wouldnt see a thing. Deny them any and all hiding places.

Finally, while weve focused on visual exposure, dont discount sound. Everything from bells on a back gate to a yapping dog can frustrate a crook and have him spending too much time looking over his shoulder for it to be worth his while. But while were on the topic, the issue of dogs is something that warrants addressing.

All too many of us dog owners are filled with a false sense of security. Yes, a barking dog does a lot to dissuade some criminals. For others, it does nothing. Do NOT depend on your dog to protect your property. Thats entirely too much responsibility and places him at risk. Youre much better off relying on Fido to alert you to an attempted break in than hoping hell actually thwart one. But that means applying a bit of common sense. If you let your dog sleep in your bed with you, hes just as unlikely as you to realize somebody is rummaging around downstairs and depriving you of your valuables. Let your pup sleep on the main floor where hell immediately recognize an attempted intrusion and will bark to alert you.

And thats where Im going to leave things, folks. There are plenty more low-to-no cost ways you can protect yourself, your family and your property but this is long enough already. Your best bet is to simply put yourself in a criminals shoes and analyze your home to determine how youd break in. You know it better than anybody else. If you can implement a strategy that would keep you out, you can feel somewhat confident that youve made any potential criminals life difficult enough hell probably move on to greener pastures. Best of luck and stay safe.

Honeymoon Destinations – Blissful Bali

For many years, Bali was a tourist resort mostly favoured by people who wanted to party hard, get their hair braided and stay in package-deal hotels.

But these days, Bali is taking on a more relaxed, laidback and grown-up style of tourism with the increasing popularity of hired villas. For the cost of a hotel room (sometimes even less), you can have your own house and the privacy to simply lounge around the pool if you want. Or you can take off to explore Balis beautiful beaches and villages.

Most villas have their own kitchen and private pool, plus they provide a maid who will clean and cook for you and a security guard on the gate.

So what better way for two old friends to reunite and have a girls holiday, leaving the kids at home? An old friend has lived in Asia for years and had been trying to coax me to her favourite place in the world, Bali, for a while.

Then, finally she hit on the exact words needed to get me over there. They were massage, shopping, and food. I was there as soon as possible, installed in Villa Aroha in Kerobokan, away form the hectic tourist zones, and she and I were able to spend a luxurious five days doing what girls do best, indulgence and chatting.

Massage in Bali is very cheap and the technique they use if firm but luxurious. They are famous for their crème bath, which I thought was a bath full of cream and had visions of some Cleopatra-type indulgence. But what I got was even better: A head, neck, shoulder and arm massage that never seems to end, during which something creamy and luscious is applied to your hair. Reflexology is a big part of any massage in Bali and there are also facials and full body massages – you name it, theyll do it. And youll get out to the spa after an hour having paid about $20.

With three hours taken care of in the spa every day, I still had some time left for shopping. And let me just say this: One sundress for $3. I ended up buying 10. For these you have to head down to the touristy end of Kuta Beach. There you will find endless stalls where you can use your bargaining powers to get the best deals.

From there, I headed to Seminyak for slightly more upmarket clothes, with kurta tops and beautifully made cotton shorts that cost from$20 to $40. Youll also find great hand-made sandals for as little as $20 – plus you can meet the guy who made them – as well as gorgeous silver jewellery and knock-off Raybans for as little as $5. But remember it pays to bargain with the sellers for their best price. And dont be surprised if the vendor starts hitting their wares with the money you just paid them. Its for good luck.

One place you mustnt miss – even if its just to buy souvenirs for those at home – is Geneva, located at Jalan Raya Kerobokan Number 100. This is a massive warehouse where you will find everything from the unique Balinese ashtrays and coffee to handbags, handicrafts and housewares, dresses and shoes for as little as a couple of dollars each. Its much cheaper than many of the tourist shops around town and prices are fixed so its no hassle for those who dont like to bargain.

And when you are all massaged and shopped out, its time for food. Bali has some incredible restaurants offering all sorts of cuisine from French to fusion to traditional Indonesian (see fact file). And then it was over, too quickly. I was chilled-out and well-fed, but my lasing memory is of the people and the culture. Living in a villa rather than a bland hotel allowed me to really get a feel for the local neighbourhood and people. The Balinese are mostly Hindu and everywhere you go you see colourful offerings to the gods at the doors of their houses and shops.

They are very peaceful, relaxed people to spend time with. Ill be gong back to my villa in paradise as soon as I can.

Massage Therapy in Downtown Tampa, South Tampa, Hyde Park 33629 and Macdill AFB is Called Hilot in the Philippines

Yes, what’s called massage therapy in Downtown Tampa, South Tampa, Hyde Park 33629 and Macdill AFB is called “hilot” in the Philippines.Hilot is the Filipino word meaning to stroke soothingly or to massage. The practitioner is also called a hilot, short for manghihilot. It is interesting to note that traditional midwives are themselves referred to as hilot, proof of how this type of soothing and healing touch is integrated into the traditional Filipino healing system.Very closely related to the hilot is the arbularyo or practitioner of herbal medicine. The arbularyo is sometimes also a hilot. Most people in the rural areas who cannot afford to consult medical doctors go to the hilot or the arbularyo instead for any ailment. Even in urban areas, many Filipinos still go to a hilot for supportive therapy for women who have just given birth, for example, or for children who have fever, even after medical consultation. In this ancient art of healing, the hilot is supposed to have the ability to identify illness or energy imbalance by observing the patient as a whole, reading the patient’s pulse, studying the patient’s scalp, observing the patient’s sweat, urine and stool, and sensing the patient’s energy. The hilot also feels the patient’s skin to check temperature. The hilot will want to know the balance of the elements of fire, water, earth and air in the patient’s body. Fire is associated with the body’s electrical impulses, water is associated with blood, earth is associated with flesh and bone, and air is associated with breath. The manipulations of the hilot are similar to chiropractic manipulations. They are able to treat both musculoskeletal and musculoligamentous conditions, including the resetting of sprained and dislocated joined in the fingers, metacarpal bones, knees and ankles. The hilot is also being compared to energy manipulation. It adheres to the belief that illnesses are imbalances in the body that can be corrected by neuro-electrical, electro-magnetic, biochemical, and bio-mechanical means. It does not follow predetermined sequences of strokes but instead relies on the practitioner’s reading of what is needed to create the necessary electrical charges in the body. These electrical charges are supposed to harness bio-energies and create biochemical reactions to restore balance and harmony for health and wellness. Hilot is an art and a skill that is closely guarded by practitioners and is wrapped in secrecy. Practitioners hand down the knowledge through generations and very rarely disclose techniques to others outside their immediate families. There are families practicing the art for many generations, traceable to their forefathers. Hilot is also often associated with the elderly, with the skill supposedly growing better with age.Even in these modern times when Filipinos primarily seek modern Western medicine for illnesses, hilot still occupies an esteemed place as a non-invasive supplemental health therapy. Even Filipinos who have lived abroad are known to seek out the hilot when returning home for a visit. The soothing strokes of the hilot provide a balm to the body and soul and reconnect them to their roots.Hilot has come to the forefront with the recent resurgence of interest in alternative and natural medicine and traditional ways of healing. Hilot has been identified as an ancient Filipino healing art that is based on universal scientific and natural laws. Many non-Filipinos visiting the Philippines have been seeking out the hilot experience. Instead of traveling to the Philippines in the Far East for hilot, you can get Swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, sports massage therapy or pregnancy massage therapy in a professional massage spa in Tampa if you’re from anywhere near Downtown Tampa, South Tampa, Hyde Park 33629 and Macdill AFB.br

Focus

What you focus on and pay attention to at any given time is very important. You need to concentrate to finish what you started. If you dont focus, you can be easily distracted and you can pass your whole life away, frustrated and unfulfilled, without accomplishing anything of what you wanted.
Too often we focus on
something that is inappropriate for us and it drains
us of energy. There are many people in this world
who are constantly focused on paying their bills.
That becomes their only focus, and they lose
sight of the needs of other people around them,
including their children, their spouses, and friends.
Debt is a huge distraction and great pain to so
many of us. We are overwhelmed with debt.
We really have to focus to stop spending, and to get out of
debt, otherwise we will also never be able to a
ccomplish what we are called to do.
Often times you must change your focus and
concentrate on attaining something that will help you
or propel you forward with time. For instance, you
may need to go to school and get a degree before you
can take a job that is higher paying. But you have to
take your focus from your bills to the focus of completing
your school requirements, and do it well. Once you receive
that degree or certification, then you need to focus on
presenting yourself to prospective employers and getting
a better paying job. If you focus on that job, and keep
your spending habits down to a minimum, you can pay down
your bills over time.
People can get into mental loops that keep
playing the same things over in their head.
Unless they put effort into breaking these mental loops,
and control their focus, they will not live their lives to
the fullest. The same goes for you. If you focus on
bizarre things all the time, bizarre things will begin to
dominate your spirit. If you focus on all the things that
cause you to worry, you will be worried all the time. If you
focus on fearful things all the time, you will become
fearful, distrustful and isolated.
These are some of the mental loops that grab your attention and focus. You have to control your thoughts and break bad mental habits. Pay attention to what you focus on. We have to plug up the drains on our time and our energy. If you have work to
do on a project, do your work first and then go and play.
Put your focus into areas that will create a sustainable
income and then you can go and have fun. If your partner
has become your whole focus, at what cost does that come?
Are you willing to pay that cost? Can you have more of a
balance in that area of your life? If you are with the
right partner, h/she will not be possessive of your time
but will share it equally, will encourage you to be the best
that you can be, and will let you focus on what you need to.
You will do the same in return. It is a support team.
One such mental loop that is created is always
putting your thoughts on something that is fearful to
you. How often do we focus on something that we dont
want to happen, only to see that become a reality?
Your constant focus has acted like a magnet and drawn
in the very thing of which you are petrified. Your focus,
a powerful tool when used in the right capacity, has
become a stagnant, redundant drain on your life force.
The only way to correct the drain is to reconnect to a new focus. Stop the worrisome, fearful, anxious thoughts and start thinking about how you would like to appear in your new life. Start focusing on what you would like to accomplish and how you
will go about doing that. It is not too late to change your focus from something negative and hurtful to something expansive and productive.
Fear and worry causes your energy to retract and become smaller, whereas joy and good imagination causes an expansion to the unlimited capacity of which you are really capable. You can choose to redirect your focus right now.
If you are working on a project, you must focus on
all the steps of the project before they are executed.
That way you will have a solid working plan to complete
the project. After plotting out the structure of the project,
you will focus on each step in priority. Usually you have to
do one thing before you do another, so there is a progression
and order. On occasion you have to complete two or more tasks almost simultaneously. Do what you need to do to the best of your ability, but do not lose your focus, which is completing the whole project. You cant let yourself get stuck on one part. If you are stymied in one area there may be another part of the project where you can begin to
move forward.
You must be conscious of the focus of time,
and attention, and do not let yourself be distracted.
If you are working on a project by yourself, you must
have discipline, patience, good working habits, be able
to motivate yourself, and determine your focus.
When you are self employed or working on your own, you are
the director, employee, and motivator. If you cant
motivate, and discipline yourself, nothing will be accomplished
well. If you are learning something new it requires a
lot of focus, concentration, determination, and self-
encouragement. If you are creating something new, you
must hone your focus for something that is not yet there. You
must continually focus on something in your imagination that
is further down the line, but that is coming. Doubt can
distract you from your focus. It is your job to shake yourself
and refocus on your goals. You must see yourself in
your imagination, having accomplished what you set out to
do.
Besides mental loops that can distract your focus,
interruptions from people can break your focus, and the foods
you eat can diminish your concentration and focus.
Excessive sugar, caffeine, and alcohol, in your diet
can wreak havoc on your concentration and your work.
Again, its part of self-discipline to monitor what and how much
you are ingesting, and to guard your focus. People can easily
take all your allotted time if you dont politely let them
know that you are working right now. Again, you can
make a choice to take a moment with a friend or associate,
or you can let them know that you need to continue
working. You need a focus in almost everything that
you do, if it is not work, then you also need to focus
when you are learning, listening, painting, cooking,
meditating, praying, communicating, attending to children,
and traveling etc. Guard your focus, work with it and
you will be well on your way to accomplishing great things.

Located in Southwest Utah and Northern Arizona, Lake Powell is a man-made reservoir on the Colorado River, and part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, and one of the most scenic lakes in the United States.

Lake Powell is the second lake in size nationwide, with the capacity to store about 26,999,814 acre feet of water when it is at its maximum volume and boasting about 1,900 miles (3,057 km) or shoreline, a coast larger than the Pacific West Coast.

The lake has a total surface of 266 miles on the edge of the Colorado Plateau, featuring 96 major side canyons with the typical fine red-rock of the Desert of Utah, at an elevation of 3,700 feet (1,127 meters)

A project which originally was born in the late 1940s as part of a series of Colorado River dams is today a popular tourist destination with about 3 million visitors each year, a place where you can enjoy a range of activities for all the family.

As a premier fishing destination, Lake Powell offers to expert fishermen and anglers a variety of carp, suckers, and catfish, natives to the region, but also other introduced species, including walleye, bass, crappie, and bluegill, among others.

People who enjoy archeological sites will be able to discover the roots of Ancient Native American tribes that once lived here, such as the Anasazi, term that the Navajo used to describe the Ancestral Puebloan culture of this region.

Canyons along the Colorado River are silent witnesses of those civilizations that left numerous petroglyphs, pictographs, corn cobs, baskets, pot shards, dwellings and storage rooms to make your visit to Lake Powell a fascinating adventure.

If you like to drive, Lees Ferry is the only natural corridor between Utah and Arizona, down the river from Glen Canyon Dam, where you can enjoy a drive. Otherwise, hike those remote canyons of the Orange Cliffs, or get ready for mountain biking through primitive roads of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

There are campgrounds and RV Park facilities featuring horseback riding, hunting and fishing activities, but keep in mind that temperatures at Lake Powell range from 110ฐ Fahrenheit (38ฐ C) in Summer to Oฐ Fahrenheit (-16ฐ C) in Winter so you can plan the best time for traveling.

Some people believe a desert-like destination may lack interesting activities, but all the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area has plenty of recreational activities, including aerial tours, river running, rappelling, rock climbing, bird and animal watching.

However, you can enjoy activities like those of other tourist destinations, such as shopping, visiting museums, entertainment venues, or dinning at your hotel or bed and breakfast facility, or any local restaurant, most of them located in the city of Page, Arizona.

Page is Lake Powells residential area with a population of 8,000 inhabitants, offering world-class facilities to locals and visitors. There are numerous Marinas around this city, offering boat rentals, skiing, guided and educational tours, golfing, and many other activities.

One of the major attractions in Page is the John Wesley Powell Memorial Museum, housing photos, and memorabilia of Major Powell, the man after whom Lake Powell was named. This museum also showcases temporary exhibits such as Discover Dinosaurs.

Lake Powell is also the scene of diverse festivals and artistic events throughout the year, including the popular Pumpkin Festival, celebrated annually on Halloweens eve.

When visiting the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, remember that several areas are governed by different rules and regulations and not all the places are designated open sites. As an example, camping is not allowed within archaeological areas and overnight backcountry use often requires a permit.

Lake Powell is also governed by different boating regulations, including those of Arizona, Utah, and the US Coast Guard. Sites like the Rainbow Bridge National Monument, in Utah, can only be accessed by boat and requires a permit from the Navajo Nation.

Wherever you go, a brand new experience awaits you at Lake Powell, where just one visit is never enough to discover the many attractions of this unique state-of-the-art destination./pbr
